PHENOMENAL HAIRCARE

Today I wanted to talk about hair care because of the health and environmental aspects. I have used eco shampoos and conditioners for years although this kind of consumption makes so much trash. I knew that there has to be a solution to that problem. When suddenly I was offered to try Solidu solid shampoo, I hadn’t heard anything about these solid products. However, this was exactly what I needed.

WHY IS IT PHENOMENAL?

Solidu is an environmentally conscious Lithuanian brand that has plenty of positive aspects:

  • these bars don’t contain water (ordinary products contain 80% of water)
  • they don’t use plastic packaging
  • made only from botanical oils, extracts, and natural essential oils that are great for your hair
  • these bars don’t take much space (great for travelling)
  • you can use it for a long time

INGREDIENTS

Everything we use on our skin absorbs into our body, but usually, people don’t have time or interest to read a long and difficult list that reminds us more a chemistry lesson. So I took time to investigate ingredients that Solidu uses to make sure that everything is safe because the word “natural” is one of the most delusive marketing trick ever.

Luckily, Solidu uses natural oils, extracts and essential oils and doesn’t contain any crap. BALANCE shampoo contains
Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA), that is safe – not like
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is something to avoid.

DANGEROUS INGREDIENTS TO AVOID:

SULPHATES(sodium laureth/lauryl sulfate)
MINERAL OILS
ALCOHOLS (SD alcohol, ethanol, methanol, benzyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol)
AMMONIUMS (dietanoolamiin, trietanoolamiin, DEA, MEA, TEA)
PHTALATES (DBP, DMP, DEP)
TRICLOSAN
PARABENS  (etylen, metylene, propylene, putylene)
FORMALDEHYD
PERFUME, PARFUM, FRAGNANCE
POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL (PEG), POLYETHYLENE OR POLYTHENE

YOU SHOULD ALSO AVOID: BHA, BHT, EDTA, TRIETANOLAMINE, EUGENOL, PROPYLENEGLYCOL, FLUORIDE, ALUMINIUM, QUATERNIUM + NR, POLYQUATERNIUM

SOAP FOR HAIR?

At first, it took time to get used with the idea to put soap into my hair. I was very sceptical. But the water helps to make foam very easily, it’s not a problem at all actually. You should make the product moist and rub it into your hair.

WHAT IS THE RESULT?

I tried BALANCE shampoo with rosemary and peppermint and HAIR CANDY conditioner with argan oil and shea butter. The shampoo is efficient in purifying your hair, but at the same time offering care. The conditioner is the biggest surprise to me because it made my stubborn hair great for combing. (I have very thin hair that tends to be messy after every wash.)

The conditioner consists o two layers: darker is for the ends that need more moisture and lighter is for upper part that should make your hair lighter. In conclusion, the outcome is very silky – that was what I needed!

WHAT SHOULD BE DIFFERENTLY?

I have to admit that this pink conditioner smells very strongly when it’s out of the box, this is why I love to put it in a reusable box. However, the smell is much lighter when I wash my hair. They have a conditioner with mango, hopefully, it smells less. I’m going to try it.

Surely, I’m in need of some labels that Solidu doesn’t have for some reason. These would give me a certainty that the product is ethical, pure and healthy. I would like to see Vegan, NaTrue, Ecocert, Cosmos Organic labels. It’s definitely a huge work to do, but maybe it’s doable in the future?

If you order the product from e-shop, it will arrive in pretty packaging, but I would like to see it more without packaging in our shops. Sure it takes time, but I really hope it’ll be popular in our shops. Right now you can order from the official website or from viljakusmonitor.ee e-shop.

I wish you good experimentations!
